Clash Royale April 2016 Anti-meta Deck Arena 7 2000 – 2750 (against bomb towers, hog riders + freeze)

Clash Royale has been a hit and even at the Helsinki tournament, we are able to see that most of if not all players really rely on hog rider + freeze and bomb tower.

So what anti-meta deck can I recommend?

As a player from Arena 7 who have been playing different hours a day and have encountered variety of players… I can recommend you an Anti-meta deck. But sadly, this build is hard to achieve without the legendary Ice wizard.  Also, I've upgraded other troops other than them 'cuz I rarely used to use them.

Rocket - Your rocket is the “hello mother effer” card that you should never reveal until the end. Sometimes, I know it’s tempting to use it whenever the elixir pump and crown tower are both in its range and you should discern whether it is the right time to make the opponent’s  pump explode

Valkyrie – The underdog card that can beat swarms, Valkyrie is a good card to stand on its own whenever your Elixir is full. Together with Ice wizard and Spear Goblins, they can wreak havoc as they guard the mortar.  Always let your opponent attack first. Valkyrie is an excellent “offense” against cannon and bomb towers.

Giant Skeleton – This is the star of your deck.  Wise usage of GS will give you enough time to “defend”  your crown tower and mortar. I always try to plant my Elixir Collector whenever it’s safe to do so, in other words, when there is a bomb from Giant Skeleton to explode. Giant Skeleton is also a good stalling card.

This card really shines when both of you and your opponent have one crown tower destroyed.  Let your opponent do the offense the surprise him by putting this giant skeleton as near to the other crown tower  (the point where the crown tower and king’s tower intersect) and voila! You win

Elixir collector – this is a must for your 4.1 anti-meta deck. Knowing how to place it properly  (depending on your opponents deck) is crucial. Never ever be tempted to put it in the center  ( the practical one when you are a defending from a hog rider) on the first seconds of the game play but it will depend on you. Always put this behind the crown tower that the opponent is not attacking if he focuses on one side. Put it at the center whenever you are “defending” from a hog rider if you are on the disadvantage but the game play of this anti-metadeck is to let your other crown tower suffer a damage. My tip is, if it can’t be helped. Just put this collector behind your undestroyed crown tower, whatever the situation calls for. But this card is very useful whenever planted after you used your Giant Skeleton. Knowing how to use this against balloon emergencies are good too!

Arrow- most crucial card for you. Never be tempted to use this  for 3 minions. Your opponent might have a minion horde or goblin barrel. You have your spear goblins and ice wizard for measly flying troops.  Critical thinking skills for anticipating if your opponent’s gonna use horde will make your opponent cry! Never use this if there's a bomb that's gonna explode under those pesky hordes. Save your elixir and arrows. (this is mostly during the mortar wars)

Spear Goblins – no explanation needed. Hog riders will usually bait you to use all of your troops by pretending to attack the side where they will plant the spear goblins.... If you waste your elixir on the troops from the  that side, they will use hog rider  asap on the other side..... Always wait for the other opponent. Learn also how to put them on the center or the back of the crown tower

Ice Wizard  -the most useless card at first glance but its cheap cost, anti-swarm, slow debuff is very good in guarding the mortar. Ice wizard is  good for its cheap cost. Wrecks  balloons and stuff

Mortar – Knowing how to plant mortar or when to play this defensively and offensively will be on your  own discernment. Always let your opponent attack first then deploy cheap troops. The moment your valkyrie, ice wizard, spear goblins gained momentum, plant this mortar to wreck havoc. Then defend the cycle of mortars  >giant skeleton > elixir collector with valks, spear goblins, arrows, ice wizard on that mortar. Mortar can also be used as a path cleaner for Giant Skeleton. Again this is on your own discretion

Gameplay Tips

  • Against Giant and Pekka planted at the very back of the crown tower, either you plant elixir collector, face it head on, or attack the other crown tower with giant skelly, mortar and others.
  • Against swarmers, you have your valk and ice wizard, attack both sides simultaneously.
  • Gameplay is always a high risk for your crown tower to get damage. Withhold using rocket and chip the other tower with this anti meta deck. Know when to give up defending your tower and get that elixir pump to work for revenge!
  • Never attack first!
  • Beware of lightning.
