PLMar LOCAL MATH QUIZ COMPETITION 2013

 

What: Local Math Competition.
When: Elimination is on Wednesday (9 - 25 - 13) 8am - 10am, 10:30am – 12:30pm, 1pm -3 pm, 3:30pm–5:30 pm (choose any time you want)
Finals : (For group category) Friday 9 - 27 - 13
Who: Open to all bonafide PLMarians 1^st year to 2^nd year this semester. Officers of Elementum are disqualified.
Where: PLMar Gymnasium

Mechanics:

1.     Form a group which composes of 3 members. Individual scores will be sum of to be a score of your group. Top 10 groups will be chosen to participate in the finals of the group category.

2.     The top 3 highest individual scores of the Elimination round will be the winners of the individual category.

3.     To register your group, submit the list of your group to your respective math professors or to Prof. Eugenio Adrao (Head of the Math Department)

4.     Coverage of exam will be Basic Mathematics and College Algebra.

5.     In the elimination round, the questions is type written consists of 1-15 questions for 2 hours.

6.     In the final round, the questions are conducted by oral format.

EASY-10 questions (2pts each)

AVERAGE-10 questions (3pts each)

DIFFICULT-10 questions (5pts each)

7.     No calculators and mathematical tables allowed.

Prizes: Medal, Certificate and Cash

Group Category: Champion- 1200;1^st runner up- 900; 2^nd runner up- 600

Individual Category: Champion- 900;1^st runner up- 500; 2^nd runner up- 300

SODUKO OPEN COMPETITION

What: Sudoku Open Competition
When: Friday 9 - 27 – 13, 1pm-5pm
Who: Open to all bonafidePLMarians of this semester.
Where: Plmar main campus Canteen.

Mechanics:

1.     To register, submit your section and full name to your respective math professors or to Prof. Eugenio Adrao (Head of the Math Department)

2.     Competition is consists of 3 rounds

EASY round will serve as the elimination round. Top 10 fastest to pass with all correct answers will advance to the average round.

AVERAGE round will serve as the semifinals. Top 5 fastest to pass with all correct answers will advance to the difficult round

DIFFICULT round will serve as thefinal round. Top 3 fastest to pass with all correct answers will be declare as a winners.

C. LOGO AND PAINTING MAKING OPEN CONTEST
What : Logo and Painting Making Competition
When: Online submission for logo is until Sept. 27, 2013, 12nn. Submission for poster is until Sept. 27, 2013,2pm
Who: Open to all bonafidePLMarians of this semester .

Mechanics:

1.     The logo must be aligned to the mission and vision of the mathematics department

2.     The painting must be aligned to the theme of the mathematics week.

3.     The logo must be in any size.

4.     The painting materials must be oil pastel, water color and canvass.

5.     Online submission of the logo. Must be send to the facebook group of elementum (ELEMENTUM 2013-2014) or to fb account of LOE BALORO.

6.     To register, submit your full name, yr and section to your respective math professors or to Prof. Eugenio Adrao (Head of the Math Department)

7.     Criteria for judging:
